There are a lot of rumours about the 450D, that is due in early January 2008 for PMA. Canon is going to add some P&S features like the facial recognition.
The software final feature list will depend on what they get working well in the DSLR environment.

* DIGIC III and 14 bit processing
* ISO 3200
* Larger LCD screen
* Still 10.1 MP
I've also heard that a 12MP version is engineered, but it should be announced in August 2009 after the 50D in February 2009. If the stakes get to high, Canon might reconsider and put a 12 mpix version on the market instead of the 10 mpix - and it wouldn't be the first time that Canon put a higher mpix sensor in the entry level DSLR, than in its XXD grade.

They've had higher megapixel sensor in 400D that the 30D for ages now, yup they just released the 40D but it certainly would NOT be unprecedented to have larger images from their entry level range. Although it's a bit close on the heels of the 40D announcement. I'll be disappointed if they don't rev the sensor, but it wouldn't surprise me, in fact I do suspect you're right.
I hope that once they introduce live-view they start considering a tilt and swivel LCD screen just like the one included on the A640 etc.
Their are 350D users out their who are waiting for a higher mega pixel camera to upgrade for them to upgrade to, as 2 megapixel’s is not much of a upgrade. Personally I do not think that live feed or a video feature will be enough of a selling point, as the size of the camera is still not pocket size, or for women handbag size. I know few people who would ever update their DSLR or go out and buy one for these features. The 350d Users who are thinking of upgrading will pick up a 400d at a discounted price…….. or wait and see what the new replacement for the 5d or the 40d is like.
They may have a even bigger surprise with a even smaller camera, maybe a baby Canon 400D / Rebel XTi. More here:
